Pastor Raudel - The Body of Christ Needs Each Other
Pastor Raudel is a directional elder and campus pastor for the Spanish Campus Summit in Espanol located in Durham. Pastor Raudel is married with three kids. He holds degrees from Duke University, Miami Dade College, and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also loves road course racing. He grew up in Cuba and moved to Peru in November of 1988. He moved to North Carolina in 1998 where he found Christ. He planted a few churches by vocationally until J.D. Greear convinced him to go to the Summit Church where he eventually planted a Spanish mission.
He believes that people need to hear the gospel in their native tongue. But he also takes seriously the call to be one. And even though we're not. Pastor Raudel says that they have a long way to go and it was a very bold move but God has honored his faith in that. He shared the story of how he and J.D were talking about how Summit Church can start reaching Latinos. Since then, the Summit Church has become the mindset of a multinational church. Pastor Raudel believes that churches have to grow in learning how to do inner-city ministry and even learning their processes. For at times they don't realize that they are unintentionally for the affluent population. There's still room there for people that are not like your congregation. And God calls us to reach out and see the beauty of his body in that community as well.
He shares the things that he has seen Summit Church do to avoid the Latino ministry from being just a notch in the belt. One of these is executive leadership where he was given a place of authority so he can first serve then represent. And there is the approach to learning where one does not have to learn everything. The body of Christ needs each other. You don't just give people a face, you need to give them value.
Pastor Raudel also talks about compelling church numbers. He shares that it is no longer a matter of if the church in America will be diverse or not. It will be diverse in 2050. Everything points to churches no longer having any majority. And Pastor Raudel wants to be there and wants to take Christ to these people groups now. And they want the church to welcome them now instead of later.
